Nebbiolo d'Alba (Pin da Cola)
Controlled Designation of Origin
Why we do it
In the highest vineyards above the village of Vezza, those where the vine has been cultivated for as long as we can remember, the Nebbiolo finds its most favourable environment. This allows him to express all its boldness and has led to the development of a true wine culture here, which we are committed to preserve.
Where we do it
If you’re looking for Vigna Pin da Cola, you can’t go wrong: two tall cypresses, straight like royal guards, stand out where the entrance to the Jewish cemetery once stood. From here the view widens until it crosses the plain, to the embrace of the Alps. On summer evenings we can admire brightly coloured sunsets and, when we linger a little and it gets darker, we see the lights of Turin shimmering.
How we do it
Nebbiolo is the first vine to sprout in spring. He almost seems to want to defy every danger: the late frosts, which unfortunately become more and more frequent, and the greedy caterpillars that take advantage of the night to gorge themselves on gems. It is also the last to be harvested: this is why Nebbiolo is a wine that carries the history and flavours of a whole year spent on the hills and the colour of all the sunsets.
How to drink it
The slow and tasty cuisine; the ragouts left for cooking for hours and hours filling the house with perfume. The roasts or boils jealously guarded by the lids and which are barely left to peek. Fresh pasta spread on the table ready to be enriched with fresh mushrooms and, why not, a generous scratch of truffle. Or that special cheese, aged or blue, that you took for a special occasion. Here, when there is a dish that you really care about and that you would not want to spoil with a wine that is not up to par, trust this nebbiolo: it knows how to enhance it as it deserves.
