Nebbiolo d'Alba (Vigna Borgaresco)
Controlled Designation of Origin
Why we do it
There is no vine so tightly cconnected to the reputation of Piedmont as a land of wines, nor to the village of Vezza d‘Alba and the legacy of our family, as Nebbiolo. The vineyards with the most suitable exposure give us the grapes that we vinify as Nebbiolo d ‘Alba DOC. Bottles in which we like to rediscover the structure and complexity that people have learned to love, and which show that easy doesn’t always mean better.
Where we do it
The work begins early during the summer, but the Borgaresco vineyard always repays us with the spectacle of its dawn. A landscape so much appreciated by us and also by the badgers, who come to enjoy it and then leave holes behind them to remind us that the countryside is not a place for the distracted. From this vineyard facing southeast, the Nebbiolo takes the ruby red of dawn.
How we do it
In the vineyard just above Vezza, Nebbiolo finds ideal soil and exposure. That’s why we’ve been growing it here for generations. From the historic vineyard our Nebbiolo d ‘Alba takes the robust body expected of this wine and the rich scent ranging from berries to spices.
How to drink it
A glass of Nebbiolo d’Alba perfectly combined with a few slices of roast, a plate of game, a piece of those well known cheeses. But when we talk about Nebbiolo, we always think of peaches. Does it sound strange to you? You might be right, but nebbiolo is the wine that Claudio’s father drank during the feast of San Rocco, when he used prepared peaches with wine all over the country. Around Vezza, in fact, in addition to vines, fruit has been grown for centuries, in particular pears and peaches
